For 3 years KUASA has been asking the state government, college administrators and also grassroots respondents who were always in the dark about the whole initiative. The turn of events, so sudden have changed the issue overnght.
Parallel with a by-eection in Kuala Kangsar, the Barisan Nasional candidate named as one of her five parliamentary promises to alter the status of the college on June 8 2016. Within 48 hours the prime minister announces that the university (June 10, 2016) has become a public university with immediate effect. We at KUASA question the method to make this quickfire determination which appears wholly knee jerk and opportunistic. Pertinently, we would like to enquire if parliamentary candidates can repeat the longstanding promise by the state government, also from the same party, and if so does it mean the candidate not the state has realised the promise or are both parties going to surreptitiously claim success for the same promise?
